this is my new hyperfixation

(2 edits)

good game! def feels like a quality game jam type of game. i played blind but was expecting a twist, so i was kind of expecting what ended up happening. i wish it were longer (the characters and story are very compelling) but it's still great as is.

my biggest issue is that the mac build doesn't fully work—i got it booted up, and then realized i couldn't save the game. as a result, any time i messed up i had to play the entire game over from the start, as i was unable to save. for the same reason, you can't adjust any of the settings (ie the volume settings) because it auto saves those settings and immediately crashes. it was quite tedious, so i ended up playing it through bootcamp with the windows build.

the bug is because if you have macOS catalina or above, you can't write to file on anything saved in the root directory. the game automatically tries to do so, which makes it impossible to save. i did not get far enough on the macOS build to try, but i imagine that you wouldn't be able to progress past a certain point as a result of this bug.

to any macOS 10.15+ users: if you run into this issue, i suggest giving up and just watching a playthrough. no idea if this was just a thing on my laptop, but i spent longer trying to fix the issue than playing the game lol

other than that, great short game :)

whats bootcamp? sry 4 dumb question

no problem! bootcamp is a way for macs to run windows os. my mac came with bootcamp pre-installed, and you just have to allocate hard drive space for the windows os. i only did it bc i had a ton of extra space on my drive.

someone else commented below that wine is another solution that will help u run the windows build on ur mac--never tried it personally, but it seems like it's just downloadable software rather than installing the actual full windows os.

ouhhh but dyk if theres one for windows to run mac? its js bc ive been tryna download it since last night, i literally ran to my desktop to download this lol

update i read the download process instruction really wrong. anywho!!! please dont reply to that other question if you will!!!! ^_^"""

For Mac you can also use Wine or create a local server with the files in the 'www' folder.

good to know, thank you!

I love this game so much, it was just so interesting to watch the story unfold, I loved the characters and was kinda sad about the groom dying, HE WAS SO GOOFY-

This is a blind playthrough. So when I discovered the twist it hit me pretty hard. By the by I'm a small retro and indie game channel. So any support would be greatly appreciated

Absolutely love this game. It's so beautiful and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Love the characters and the backstory, too. I think this and Elevator Hitch are some of my favorite games of all-time now. :]

(+4)

Since I'm a little delusional, why do I kind of see parallels between Rody from Dead Plate and Da-jeong? Like, they're both head over heels for their partners and would likely do anything for them? <--- DO NOT TAKE SERIOUSLY lol

This is so amazing!!! I loved it, Dead Plate and this game are now my favorite games! Keep going, we love ya! (I cried at this game omg i did not expect it to go so deep!) Also, characters are so adorable! :3 Your work is always so brilliant!

Fantastic game! I absolutely loved it and was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
Studio Investigrave games are always so charming and delightfully morbid. I can't get enough of these games. Thank you to everyone who made this!

Incredible work as always!!! Delicious art style, fun puzzles, incredible character design and an interesting story. There was maybe twice where I was a bit confused on what to do next but there's only so many options so you're bound to figure things out eventually. I ran into one spelling error which had the word "Haven't" instead of  "Hasn't"  and Bok-su's left facing sprite in her last outfit is slightly bugged so a tiny bit of the pixels of the feet of whatever line of sprites is above it on the sprite sheet is shown above her head. Those were the only two things I had a problem with and these should be easy to patch out!

God I Love Dead Bodys

Hi! I have a Mac and it's not opening the game. has anyone found a solution to this problem? my game is going to the bar at the bottom, it says that it is running but its not opening up the game window. any help is welcome. thanks

It doesn't work on Mac because RPG Maker MV doesn't work with newer versions of Mac as they stopped supporting Mac ports with it, your best options are: try opening the windows version with Wine, make a local server with the files in the 'www' folder or run it on a random android device with the AopAop app (which is how I ended up playing it).

Thank you!!!! that makes a lot of sense. ill just use bootcamp.

I absolutely love it, the characters, the game play. I may or may not have forgot the to-do list was a thing so I was just walking around the place wondering what to do. AND THE ENDING IS GOOD!

Poor dude tho :( got caught in the crossfire, I see the vision from MC tho, if someone did that to my future, I so too would become atonement brained.

Sorry but I can't see Bok-su as a girl as that's totally a guy in my eyes.

(I know the characters in the game calls Bok-su a She/Her, so I know Bok-su is a girl but its just my brain not seeing her as a girl.)

But anyway ignore my rambling as the game is great and tells a great story.

Some women look masculine, this is such a weird take.

(+1)

right like do all women gotta have gigantic bazonkers to be women??

FR

I never said that a woman need that as you are the one who is saying it.

Just my brain being weird thats all as I know she is a girl and all but my stupid brain just being in buffer mode 😆

TL;DR - A magnificent, compact, and fascinating experience from start to finish with amazing art and an engaging short story that is expertly done!

This game blew me and my expectations away in the best possible way. I will readily admit that I was personally not the biggest fan of the previous game, Dead Plate. While the art was gorgeous, I personally found the characters and story in that game to be predictable and dull at times. Furthermore, the gameplay just didn't really do a good job at capturing my attention and was slightly frustrating at times. (Now to be fair, I did drop the game about halfway through. I fully acknowledge that the game very well could have improved in the second half, however I just didn't feel engaged or interested enough to bring myself to pick it back up again.)

Needless to say, I was slightly apprehensive when booting up this game. However, despite that, I can confidently say that by the time the credits rolled I was absolutely surprised and beyond pleased with the experience overall.

To begin with, the art is, as always, an absolute treat. The art style with these games are incredibly well done and something that I personally really love. I can't quite explain why I love it so much, but I do.

Secondly, the characters, their personality, and their motivations are much more engaging and extremely well done than in Dead Plate in my opinion. It truly is an achievement to pack in so much with so little time. For a game that is at most 40 minutes, (if you go around interacting with every object and hearing all the dialogue), there is a shocking amount of depth present here.

Third, the gameplay itself while incredibly simple is more than enough to engage the player and makes the player actually think.

And of course last but not least, the story. In my opinion, the story while basic was really well done and paced extremely well. I really enjoy this take on, "atonement". It just works so well in so many ways that I would love to go into for this review, however I have written enough as is.

All in all, I think everyone who worked on this game did a fantastic job in every department. I highly recommend supporting them however you can. I can't wait to see more of your work in the future.

Thank you so much for the wonderful time and I hope you all have a pleasant day!

This was SO good

Just saying, it still says "coming soon!" for this game on the studio investigrave card link thing. I was thinking it was early access or something
